Joe Penna is a Brazilian writer and director.

For the past 13 years, he has maintained a YouTube channel dedicated to inventive music
videos and short films. The channel has garnered nearly 3 million subscribers and over 400
million views. His stop-motion short film Guitar: Impossible was selected to be displayed at the
Guggenheim museum.

Penna has directed commercials for various Fortune 500 companies including Coca Cola,
Disney, and Ford. He was selected as one of the top 10 new directors at the 20th Cannes Lions
Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase.

His inaugural short film, MERIDIAN, stars Orlando Jones. His follow-up, INSTANT GETAWAY,
was produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. Penna's third short film, TURNING POINT,
was selected to play at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.

Penna's debut feature film, ARCTIC, was shot entirely on location in Iceland and stars Mads
Mikkelsen. It was part of the Official Selection for the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, and is
currently being distributed theatrically by Bleecker Films.

Penna is currently in post-production for STOWAWAY, starring Anna Kendrick, Toni Collette, and Daniel Dae Kim.
